Iron-Rich Substrate Granules (1L)

Iron-rich substrate granules are a targeted root-zone additive formulated for planted tanks housing iron-hungry species such as red stem plants, Amazon swords, and crypts. Each granule contains a high concentration of chelated ferrous iron encapsulated in a slowly dissolving mineral matrix, releasing iron steadily into the surrounding substrate over a 12–18 month period.

By delivering iron directly at the root zone, this additive bypasses the rapid oxidation of iron that occurs in the water column, ensuring that roots receive a consistent supply in a bioavailable chelated form. The granules are mixed into the lower 2–4 cm of substrate during initial setup and can be re-applied by pushing fresh granules into the substrate near large plants when growth slows. The 1-litre bag treats the base layer of a standard 60–80 litre planted tank.
