Iron Test Kit

The Iron Test Kit detects both chelated EDTA iron and free ionic iron using a selective phenanthroline-based colorimetric reaction. Iron is an essential micronutrient for aquatic plants, playing a central role in chlorophyll synthesis and enzyme function. Deficiency causes interveinal chlorosis, particularly visible in fast-growing stem plants and carpeting species.

The kit resolves concentrations at 0, 0.1, 0.25, 0.5, and 1.0 ppm with clear colour steps. Tests complete in 5 minutes at aquarium temperature. The target range for planted tanks is 0.1–0.5 ppm total iron, maintained through regular liquid fertiliser dosing or substrate-root-tab supplementation.

Iron testing is most useful when troubleshooting yellowing or pale new growth and when calibrating fertiliser dosing schedules in high-tech planted setups.
