Java Fern 'Thin Leaf'

Java Fern 'Thin Leaf' (Microsorum pteropus 'Thin Leaf') occupies a middle ground between the standard broad-leaved form and the very narrow Needle Leaf cultivar. Its leaves are noticeably thinner and more translucent than the standard Java Fern, giving plants an altogether lighter, more graceful appearance while remaining fully submerged-adapted and hardscape-friendly.

This cultivar is well suited to aquarists who want the reliability of Java Fern without the visual heaviness of the standard broad form. The thinner leaves allow more light to pass through the plant, keeping the midground visually open. It pairs beautifully with fine mosses such as Java Moss or Christmas Moss for a layered, textural display.

Care is straightforward: attach the rhizome to driftwood or stone, provide low to moderate light and periodic liquid fertilisation, and allow the plant to grow undisturbed. Plantlets emerge on leaf margins in the same manner as all Java Fern varieties.
