JBL ProScape Volcano Mineral

JBL ProScape Volcano Mineral is engineered as a dedicated lower substrate layer in a two-layer planted tank substrate system. While it is not intended to be visible as a decorative substrate, it provides the most critical nutrient reserves for plant roots — particularly iron, manganese, magnesium, and a broad spectrum of trace elements derived from its volcanic mineral composition.

The volcanic base provides a highly porous, oxygen-rich environment in the root zone that promotes vigorous root development and prevents the anaerobic conditions that can develop in dense, compacted substrates. Placed as a 2–3 cm base layer and covered with 3–5 cm of decorative aqua soil or inert substrate, Volcano Mineral functions as an invisible, long-lasting nutrient engine beneath the visible planting layer.

JBL's ProScape system is designed for flexibility: Volcano Mineral pairs seamlessly with JBL ProScape Plant Soil as the decorative top layer, but it can also be used beneath Seachem Flourite, ADA Aqua Soil, or any other planted tank substrate for enhanced root-zone nutrition.
