Julidochromis transcriptus 'Bemba' is collected from the rocky Bemba coast on the DRC side of Lake Tanganyika and represents the most commercially well-known population of the transcriptus species. The body is brilliant white with bold, irregular black blotches scattered across the flanks and dorsal surface, creating a high-contrast pattern that makes this one of the most visually arresting of all Tanganyika cichlids.

Bemba transcriptus follows the standard Julidochromis lifestyle: a monogamous pair occupies a rocky territory and spawns repeatedly in caves or crevices. The pair bond is strong and long-lasting, and established pairs are exceptionally efficient parents, rarely losing broods. The species is among the easiest Tanganyika cichlids to breed, making it an excellent choice for anyone entering the hobby.

Provide a well-structured rocky aquascape with abundant caves and crevices. The fish are active, always visible, and will interact with each other and the keeper throughout the day. Combine with shell-dwelling Neolamprologus on the sandy floor and Cyprichromis in open water for a stunning Tanganyika biotope display.

Orders are processed within 1-2 business days. Standard shipping typically takes 3-5 business days.

Free shipping on orders over the store's free shipping threshold. Pickup may also be available depending on the store's settings.
