Lagenandra keralensis

Lagenandra keralensis is a geographically restricted species endemic to the state of Kerala in southwestern India, where it grows in fast-flowing forest streams and rivers. Its leaves are elongated and lance-shaped, medium to dark green with a slightly glossy surface. It is a relatively compact Lagenandra, reaching moderate size, and adapts to aquarium cultivation with patience. Soft to moderately hard water conditions reflective of its Indian river origins are optimal. The plant grows slowly and is best suited to a low-disturbance aquarium or paludarium. Extremely uncommon in the hobby, it is a prestige addition to any collection of Indian rheophytic aroids.
