Laterite Root Tabs 20-Pack

Laterite is a naturally occurring iron-rich clay formed in tropical soils, long valued in the planted aquarium hobby as a substrate additive. These laterite root tabs compress raw laterite into a convenient tablet format, allowing targeted iron supplementation at the root zone without the upheaval of mixing loose laterite into the substrate.

Each tab releases iron and other mineral compounds slowly over four to six months as the laterite is gradually broken down by bacterial activity and organic acids in the substrate. This closely mimics the way plants access iron from natural tropical river sediments.

Particularly suited to tanks with stem plants, large swords, and iron-hungry aquatic ferns, laterite tabs complement water-column iron dosing by ensuring root iron availability remains constant even in carbonate-heavy or alkaline substrates where water-column iron precipitates rapidly.
