Laubuca dadiburjori

Laubuca dadiburjori, sometimes called the Dadio, is a tiny, slender cyprinid from India and Sri Lanka that occupies the upper water column in slow-moving, heavily vegetated streams and ponds. It is characterised by a bold, reflective gold lateral stripe that runs from behind the gill cover to the tail base, set against a translucent silver-gold body. Its narrow body profile and surface-oriented swimming behaviour are reminiscent of a miniature hatchetfish. In the aquarium it needs soft to moderately hard, slightly acidic to neutral water and a mature, stable environment. Strong currents should be avoided. A tight-fitting lid is essential as it is an accomplished jumper. Best kept in groups of ten or more in a planted tank with floating plants at the surface to provide cover. Micro-foods are accepted readily.
