Leopard Angelfish

The Leopard Angelfish is a selectively bred captive strain expressing randomly distributed dark spots and blotches over a silver-gold body, resembling the rosette pattern of a leopard. Unlike the marble strain's sweeping colour blocks, the leopard pattern consists of smaller, rounder markings scattered across the flanks and fins.

The leopard pattern results from a combination of the marble gene with selective breeding for smaller, more defined spots. Pattern expression varies between individuals and changes somewhat as fish mature — juveniles may show more muted spotting that intensifies with age.

Leopard angels are fully hardy and adaptable. Their speckled pattern pairs well with lush planted backgrounds where the spotting helps them blend into dappled light, mimicking their Amazonian habitat origins.
