Lilaeopsis mauritiana

Lilaeopsis mauritiana is a species of micro sword native to the island of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean. It produces slightly broader, more cylindrical blades than the common L. brasiliensis and maintains a rich, deep emerald-green colour. The tissue culture form provides a snail and algae-free starting population. It spreads via rhizomes at a slow to moderate pace, building into a dense, grass-like foreground carpet over time. Best performance is achieved in soft water with nutrient-rich substrate and medium to high light. CO2 supplementation accelerates growth and keeps the blades lush. Like other micro swords it is robust once established and requires minimal maintenance beyond occasional division of dense clumps.
