Lilith Eartheater

Satanoperca lilith is among the rarest and most visually spectacular eartheaters available to hobbyists. Endemic to the Rio Tapajós drainage in Brazil, it features a golden-bronze body adorned with electric blue iridescent scaling and a prominent black lateral blotch. Adults in breeding condition rival discus in the intensity of their colouration.

Care follows the standard Satanoperca protocol of clean, soft, slightly acidic water and a deep fine-sand substrate. The Tapajós is a clear-water river rather than a true blackwater system, meaning this species tolerates marginally harder and clearer conditions than strict blackwater Satanoperca, though soft water is still preferred for best results.

Satanoperca lilith is an uncommon breeding subject in captivity, but dedicated keepers have achieved success under optimal conditions. Its combination of spectacular colouration, peaceful temperament, and fascinating eartheater behaviour makes it one of the most desirable species in the genus.
