Lippincott's Silver Dollar

Metynnis lippincottianus is distinguished from other silver dollars by scattered irregular dark spots across the flanks that become more apparent in well-conditioned fish. It originates from the Guiana Shield rivers and lower Amazon and displays typical peaceful schooling behaviour.

Care requirements are nearly identical to M. argenteus, and the two species can be maintained together if desired. Its spotted pattern is subtle in juveniles but develops more clearly as fish mature. Like all Metynnis, it will consume soft aquarium plants and should be kept with robust vegetation or none at all.
