Black soldier fly larvae (Hermetia illucens) — sometimes called calciworms — are increasingly recognised as one of the most nutritionally complete insect-based fish foods available. Their naturally high calcium content and favourable calcium-to-phosphorus ratio support bone mineralisation and scale integrity in ways that most other live foods cannot match.
