A Live Daphnia Culture is a starter culture of live Daphnia magna or Daphnia pulex water fleas in 250ml of culture water. Daphnia are a classic live food for freshwater fish valued for their digestive regulating properties, high protein content, and exceptional palatability. They trigger natural hunting behavior in fish and are particularly beneficial for constipated fish and as a conditioning food before breeding. They are also suitable as a first food for juvenile fish that are too large for infusoria but too small for brine shrimp.
