Live Vinegar Eel Culture Starter

Vinegar eels (Turbatrix aceti) are non-parasitic nematodes that thrive in dilute apple cider vinegar cultures, making them one of the easiest live foods to maintain at home. They remain alive and active in the aquarium for several hours, moving through the water column in a lively wriggling motion that triggers immediate feeding responses in even the smallest fry. Their manageable size — approximately 1–2 mm — bridges the gap between rotifers and microworms. The starter culture arrives ready to feed and can be expanded easily using a simple apple cider vinegar and apple slice medium.
