Logemanni Shrimp Breeding Colony

Caridina logemanni is a Sulawesi endemic shrimp from the ancient Lakes Matano and Towuti system, displaying vivid spots of deep red on a white body — making it visually similar to Cardinal Shrimp but with distinct morphological differences. Like all Sulawesi Cardinal shrimp, it requires the very specific warm, alkaline, moderately hard water chemistry of its native ancient lakes.

This breeding colony of 10 mixed adults (males and females) provides immediate critical mass for establishing a self-sustaining captive population. Sulawesi shrimp are direct-developing — females carry large eggs that hatch as miniature adults — making colony establishment from a stable adult group the most reliable approach.

Successful long-term keeping requires investment in proper substrate, buffering, and consistent temperature management. Active alkaline substrate or careful mineral supplementation is essential. Water changes should be small and performed with RO water dosed to match native lake parameters.
