Long-fin Rosy Barb

The Long-fin Rosy Barb adds dramatically elongated fins to the already attractive Pethia conchonius body plan. Males in breeding condition display the full rosy-red colouration enhanced by trailing fin edges, making this one of the most impressive temperate community fish available.

The elongated fins require non-nippy companions and moderate rather than strong water current. Plants should be robust since Rosy Barbs will sample soft-leaved vegetation. Keep in schools to minimise intra-specific nipping and to see the full schooling display.

This variant is as hardy and adaptable as the standard form and breeds readily, producing a mix of long-fin and short-fin offspring.
