Longfin Rosy Barb Gold

The Longfin Gold Rosy Barb is a double-selectively-bred variant of Pethia conchonius combining two cultivated traits: the rich golden-amber body colour of the Gold form and the dramatically extended fins of the Longfin form. The result is a fish of considerable elegance — the long, flowing fins trail behind as the fish moves, and adult males glow with an orange-red flush against the gold body during courtship.

Despite its ornate appearance, this is a tough and adaptable barb requiring only basic care. It tolerates the same cool temperatures as the standard Rosy Barb, making it an excellent choice for temperate aquariums or cooler community setups. The extended fins are fragile, however, and care should be taken to avoid pairing it with fin-nipping species.

Feeding is effortless: the Longfin Gold Rosy Barb accepts all standard aquarium foods enthusiastically. In a planted tank with subdued lighting, the gold and orange tones of this fish are shown to maximum effect, making it a genuinely beautiful addition to the right aquarium.
