Lutino Oscar

The Lutino Oscar is produced through selective breeding for reduced but not absent melanin, resulting in a fish with a deep golden-yellow to amber body colour. Unlike true albinos which have no melanin at all, the Lutino retains enough pigment to produce a warm, richly coloured body without the stark white of the albino form. The eyes of Lutino individuals may be orange-red to dark red rather than the bright red of true albinos.

The Lutino morph is less commonly available than the standard Tiger or Albino forms, making it a desirable variant for Oscar collectors seeking something unusual. It develops its full golden colouration within the first year and the hue may deepen with age and appropriate diet.

Behaviourally the Lutino Oscar is indistinguishable from any other Oscar variant — highly interactive, intelligent, and assertive toward smaller tankmates.
