Marsilea drummondii

Marsilea drummondii, the Australian Nardoo, is the most striking of the aquarium water clovers, producing prominently four-lobed fronds that are noticeably larger than other Marsilea species kept in planted tanks. The tissue culture form provides a clean, snail-free starting point and the plant establishes readily once introduced to a nutrient-rich substrate. Under lower light fronds grow more erect; under medium to high light with CO2 they creep low and wide. The bold, four-lobed silhouette creates an eye-catching foreground carpet unlike any other plant and works especially well as a natural-looking ground cover in Australian biotope or bush-style aquascapes. Rhizome division is the easiest propagation method.
