Meteor Minnow

The Meteor Minnow is produced by combining the long-fin and gold colour traits of Tanichthys albonubes, resulting in a fish with a warm golden body and dramatically flowing fins. Under aquarium lighting it creates a shimmering, comet-like effect that earns its evocative name.

Despite its ornate appearance the Meteor Minnow is just as easy to keep as the standard species. It requires only cool, clean water and a varied diet. The long fins demand non-nippy companions and moderate rather than strong water flow.

Spawning occurs readily in a cool, planted tank. Offspring may express the gold form, the long-fin form, the combined meteor form, or the standard wild-type, depending on parental genetics.
