Metriaclima zebra 'Nkhomo Reef'

Metriaclima zebra 'Nkhomo Reef' originates from the rocky substrate at Nkhomo Reef, a locale in the southern lake region near Monkey Bay, Lake Malawi. This population produces males with particularly vivid electric-blue ground colouration and sharp, well-defined black barring. OB (orange blotch) females, a polymorphic trait in the M. zebra complex, are frequently encountered in this locale.

Behaviour aligns closely with other M. zebra populations: strongly territorial males holding rock territories and displaying constantly towards rivals, females seeking refuge within the rockwork. Harem management with one male to several females significantly improves keeping success. Mouthbrooding females incubate for 21–28 days. The Nkhomo Reef designation provides assurance of geographic origin for collectors maintaining pure locale lines.
