Microdevario erythromicron

Microdevario erythromicron is among the smallest vertebrates kept in the aquarium hobby, rarely exceeding 2 cm. Native to Lake Inle and associated waters in Myanmar's Shan State, it inhabits shallow, densely vegetated margins with slightly alkaline water—unusual conditions for such a minute fish. Its body is semi-transparent with a faint orange-pink blush and delicate barring. In the aquarium it is best maintained in a mature nano tank of 20 L or more with dense planting, dark substrate, and extremely gentle filtration to avoid current that would exhaust the fish. A species-only setup or pairing with equally tiny, peaceful companions such as small Boraras or Danio erythromicron works best. Diet must consist of micro-sized foods: nano pellets, baby brine shrimp, cyclops, and infusoria for fry.
