Microworm Culture Starter

Microworms (Panagrellus redivivus) are small free-living nematodes approximately 1–2mm in length that wriggle through water, triggering a strong feeding response from tiny fry. They are one of the most practical live foods available to breeders because cultures are easy to maintain, produce continuously, and require only a small amount of space and oatmeal substrate.

This starter pack contains a live culture on pre-inoculated oatmeal substrate in a sealed tub. Upon arrival, the culture only needs to be opened and placed in a warm location (22–26°C) to resume active production. Within 48 hours, microworms will begin climbing the walls of the container and can be harvested with a finger tip or cotton swab. A single culture, maintained well, can provide live food for multiple fry tanks indefinitely. Refresh with fresh oatmeal every 2–3 weeks to maintain peak production.
