Mineralised Topsoil Substrate (5L)

Mineralised topsoil substrate has gained widespread popularity in the low-tech and walstad-method planted tank community as an affordable, highly fertile alternative to purpose-made aquasoils. The topsoil is sourced from certified clean growing media, then kiln-dried at controlled temperatures to eliminate pathogens and weed seeds while retaining the natural mineral and organic nutrient content that makes topsoil such a productive growing medium.

When capped with 3–5 cm of inert sand or fine gravel, mineralised topsoil releases nutrients slowly into the root zone over many years without causing severe algae outbreaks from excess nutrient leaching into the water column. This substrate system is ideal for low-maintenance, no-CO2, low-fertiliser planted tank approaches.
