Mountain Stone

Mountain Stone is a hard, angular natural rock with sharp ridgelines, deep natural crevices, and a grey-brown colouration streaked with dark mineral veins. Its dramatic silhouette naturally evokes high-altitude mountain scenery, making it the stone of choice for classic mountain valley and highland aquascape compositions.

The angular fracture surfaces of Mountain Stone allow pieces to be arranged with matching faces touching, creating seamless transitions between individual stones in large rock groups. This property is especially useful for constructing convincing mountain range compositions where multiple stones are positioned in diminishing perspective toward the background.

Moss attaches well to Mountain Stone's rough surface, and small rhizome plants such as Anubias nana petite can be wedged into crevices for a mossy highland look. The stone's colour darkens attractively when submerged, becoming more visually dramatic in the aquarium than it appears when dry.
