Mouthbrooder Holding Jar

Mouthbrooding females face significant stress from tank mates attempting to steal eggs or fry from their mouths, and from aggressive males attempting to force re-spawning before the current clutch has hatched. The Mouthbrooder Holding Jar provides a safe, enclosed space within the main aquarium where a holding female can complete the incubation period undisturbed while remaining in familiar, stable water conditions.

The jar mounts over the tank rim or clips to the tank wall, ensuring the female shares the same water as the main tank for temperature and chemistry continuity. The acrylic walls allow full observation so the breeder can monitor the holding behaviour and act promptly when the female is ready to release her fry. Once fry are released, the jar can be used to retain them safely before transfer to a dedicated grow-out tank.
