Najas graminea

Najas graminea is native to Asia and Africa, where it grows in warm, shallow freshwater habitats including rice paddies, ditches, and slow rivers. It produces delicate, freely branching stems bearing very fine, narrowly linear leaves that resemble fine grass blades, forming soft, wispy masses in the aquarium. It is an excellent low-maintenance oxygenating plant for tropical community tanks, growing quickly under moderate light without any CO2 or special fertilisation. Its soft, fine texture makes it one of the most effective and widely used spawning media for killifish, small tetras, and other egg-scattering species, and its floating masses provide outstanding shelter for fry and invertebrates.
