Nigrofasciatus Danio

Danio nigrofasciatus, the Dwarf Spotted Danio, is a small and attractively patterned danio from Myanmar. The common name describes its most prominent feature: irregular dark spots or blotches arranged along the flanks on a pale olive-silver base colour. Its compact adult size of around 4 cm makes it suitable for nano and smaller planted aquaria where larger danios would be too active. In the wild it inhabits shallow streams, rice paddies, and pools in the lowlands and lower hills of Myanmar. It is a prolific breeder in captivity and one of the few danio species whose fry are easy to raise on commercial micro-foods. Groups of eight or more produce the best schooling displays. Peaceful with all appropriately sized tankmates.
