Nitrate Reagent Refill Set

The Nitrate Reagent Refill Set includes replacement bottles of Reagent 1 and Reagent 2 along with a replacement micro-spoon for cadmium-reduction nitrate kits. The refill format allows continued use of the existing test tube, instructions, and colour comparator card, reducing cost and plastic waste compared to purchasing a complete new kit.

Nitrate is the most frequently tested stable parameter in established aquariums, making reagent consumption faster than for cycling parameters like ammonia and nitrite. A refill set providing 90 tests typically lasts 6–9 months for aquarists performing weekly nitrate tests on one to three aquariums.

The Reagent 2 bottle contains a powdered or granular cadmium compound that requires vigorous shaking before each use to disperse the active ingredient into the liquid carrier. This step is critical for accurate results and is the most common source of low-reading errors.
