Hemiancistrus sp. LDA033, the Orange Seam Pleco, is a visually refined and attractively coloured loricariid from the blackwater streams of Colombia. Its most immediately striking feature is the vivid orange-to-gold trim along the dorsal, caudal, and pectoral fin margins, which contrasts sharply against the dark base colour of the body and fins. The body itself is covered in a fine pattern of pale spots on a dark ground that provides effective cryptic colouration.

At approximately 12 cm this is a manageable-sized species suitable for aquariums of 100 L or more. It requires the soft, slightly acidic conditions typical of Colombian blackwater habitats (pH 5.5–7.0) and moderate to strong flow. Driftwood, caves, and leaf litter create an appropriate biotope. Its omnivorous diet includes algae wafers, Repashy, bloodworms, and brine shrimp.

The Orange Seam Pleco is a rewarding and visually distinctive species that stands out among the crowd of brown-spotted plecos. Males are territorial near caves but entirely peaceful with other species. It has been bred in captivity following standard Hypancistrus-related cave-spawning methods.
