Vilmae Tetra

Hyphessobrycon vilmae is a richly colored species from the Tapajós River basin in Pará, Brazil. Its reddish-orange body is accented by a distinct black lateral stripe running to the caudal peduncle, creating a bold, high-contrast pattern. The warm-spectrum coloration intensifies in well-maintained, slightly acidic water over dark substrate. A spirited but non-aggressive fish, it benefits significantly from being kept in groups of eight or more, which reduces inter-fish stress and encourages confident schooling behavior. Compatible with most other peaceful South American community fish, it is a rewarding species that has been steadily gaining popularity in the hobby.
