Vinegar Eel Culture Starter

Vinegar eels (Turbatrix aceti) are tiny free-swimming nematodes approximately 1–2mm long that live in dilute apple cider vinegar. They are one of the smallest practical live foods available, making them particularly valuable for nano species and for fry in the first 2–3 days of free-swimming life when even microworms are too large.

The key advantage of vinegar eels over microworms and other nematode cultures is that they survive for extended periods in aquarium water without sinking into the substrate. This means fry have more time to encounter and consume them, reducing waste and maintaining food availability between feedings. The starter culture comes in a sealed container with apple cider vinegar substrate and active organisms ready to harvest within 1–2 weeks of delivery.
