Weighted Airline Holder / Sinker

The Weighted Airline Holder / Sinker is a simple but essential accessory for keeping airline tubing, airstones, and bubble wands precisely positioned at the bottom of the aquarium. Without a sinker, the buoyancy of the air inside the airline tubing causes it to float upward, pulling airstones off position and allowing tubing to drift visibly across the substrate or glass.

The sinker works by providing a small amount of additional weight — typically via a lead-free metal insert or dense plastic casing — that overcomes the buoyancy of the airline and holds it flat against the substrate. It clips or wraps around the tubing or airstone and can be repositioned easily without tools.

Most sinkers have a simple clip design that grips the airline tubing without damaging it, while others have a loop or barb that hooks directly onto an airstone. They are reusable indefinitely and can be transferred between setups. A sinker is particularly important for bar airstones, flexible bubble wands, and any airline section that needs to maintain a precise path across the substrate.
