About
Acanthurus pyroferus, the Mimic Surgeon Tang, is remarkable for its juvenile stage where it perfectly mimics Centropyge heraldi (Yellow Pygmy Angel) for protection. Adults develop a beautiful brown-orange base with yellow and blue highlights. Large tank required.
Care Guide
300 L+ tank. Temperature 24–27°C. Feed nori, algae-based pellets, Mysis. One per tank with other surgeonfishes. Reef safe. Introduce before other tangs to reduce aggression.
