Acipenser ruthenus (Sterlet Sturgeon) is the smallest sturgeon species, making it the most suitable for large garden ponds. A prehistoric bottom-dweller that forages for invertebrates and benefits pond ecology.
pH 7.0–8.5, temp 4–22°C. Requires very large pond (5000L+) with excellent oxygenation. Bottom feeder — feed sinking sturgeon pellets. Will overwinter safely in deep Belgian ponds.
