Acropora loripes
Origin: Indo-Pacific
Acropora loripes in its yellow form is one of the more forgiving Acropora species, making it a popular choice for reefers entering the SPS hobby. Its sturdy, upright branching and bright yellow colouration — which intensifies under blue lighting — provide a striking visual impact. A. loripes is tolerant of moderate parameter fluctuations compared to more demanding Acropora species, making it a reliable first SPS coral.
Medium-high PAR (200–350) is sufficient. Strong flow preferred. Alk 8–10 dKH, Ca 400–450 ppm, Mg 1250–1350 ppm, temp 24–27°C. More tolerant of elevated nutrients than most Acropora — suitable for mixed reef systems with moderate fish load. Frag easily by snapping branches; place on frag rack or upper rock at mid-level. Dip new pieces before introduction.
