Origin: West Africa (Nigeria, Ghana)
Arnoldichthys spilopterus is a large and beautiful West African tetra from Nigeria and Ghana, immediately recognised by its striking red iris and iridescent, multi-coloured scaling. It is active, peaceful, and one of the most spectacular schooling fish from the region. Groups of six or more are needed to observe its full colour potential.
Water: 23–27°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to medium hardness. Tank: Minimum 100L; open swimming areas with planted edges and strong filtration. Feeding: Quality flake and pellets, supplemented with frozen brine shrimp, bloodworm, and daphnia. Behaviour: Active, peaceful schooler; harmless to all but the smallest tankmates. Compatibility: Excellent with kribibensis, Congo tetras, Synodontis, and robust West African community fish.
