Rasbora agilis
Also known as: Agile Rasbora
Origin: Borneo
Rasbora agilis is a moderately sized, active schooling cyprinid from the lowland rivers and blackwater habitats of Borneo. Its pale golden, semi-transparent body with a faint lateral stripe belies its energy — in a suitably spacious tank, a school will constantly patrol the midwater in tight formation. It prefers soft, acidic conditions but adapts well to moderately hard water once acclimatised.
Water: 22–28 °C, pH 5.5–7.0, soft to moderately hard (GH 3–12). Tank: 80 L minimum; open swimming areas with planted margins and low current. Feeding: Omnivore — pellets, flakes, live or frozen small invertebrates. Behaviour: Active schooler; keep 8+ for confident group behaviour. Compatibility: Peaceful with similarly sized fish; avoid very slow or long-finned species.
