Corydoras aeneus
Origin: South America (aquaculture/captive bred variety)
The Albino Corydoras is a selectively bred albino form of the Bronze Cory (Corydoras aeneus), displaying a warm creamy-white body with characteristic pink eyes caused by the absence of melanin pigment. Despite its striking appearance, the Albino Cory retains all the hardiness, adaptability, and sociable personality of the standard Bronze Cory that has made it one of the most popular aquarium fish in Europe for decades. It is an excellent scavenger that helps keep the substrate clean by consuming detritus and any food that sinks to the bottom, reducing organic waste accumulation. Like all corydoras, it is a schooling species that feels most secure and displays its best behaviour in groups of 6 or more. The Albino Cory is highly recommended as a beginner fish due to its tolerance of a wide range of water parameters.
Keep in groups of 6+ on a fine sand or smooth-gravel substrate. Feed a varied diet including sinking wafers, catfish tablets, and occasional frozen bloodworms. Maintain regular water changes and monitor for accumulated nitrates. The albino form is identical in care requirements to standard Bronze Cory.
