Epalzeorhynchos frenatum var. (albino)
Also known as: Albino Rainbow Shark
Origin: Southeast Asia (captive-bred)
The Albino Rainbow Shark is a captive-bred colour morph of Epalzeorhynchos frenatum in which the dark body pigmentation is entirely absent, producing a pure white to pale cream body that dramatically accentuates the vivid orange-red fins. All behavioural characteristics, territorial tendencies, and care requirements are identical to the wild-type Rainbow Shark.
Water: 22–27°C, pH 6.0–7.5, moderate hardness (GH 5–15). Tank: 150 L minimum; caves, overhangs and driftwood to define territory. Feeding: Omnivore; sinking pellets, algae wafers, blanched vegetables, frozen protein occasionally. Behaviour: Territorial; keep one per aquarium; ignores most mid-water peaceful fish. Compatibility: Good with danios, tetras, and barbs; avoid other benthic cyprinids and similar-looking species.
