Puntigrus tetrazona var. (albino)
Also known as: Albino Tiger Barb
Origin: Southeast Asia (captive-bred)
A captive-bred albino morph of Puntigrus tetrazona, the Albino Tiger Barb displays a cream to pale gold body where the usual black bands appear as faint pinkish-rose markings. The fins retain their bold red colouration, creating a striking contrast. It shares identical care requirements, temperament, and schooling behaviour with the wild-type Tiger Barb.
Water: 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.5, moderate hardness (GH 5–15). Tank: 80 L minimum; planted aquarium with open mid-water swimming space. Feeding: Omnivore; high-quality flake, micro-pellets, frozen bloodworm and brine shrimp. Behaviour: Semi-aggressive; must be kept in groups of 8+ — solitary individuals become stressed and more nippy. Compatibility: Best with other barbs, robust danios, and larger tetras; avoid slow or long-finned tankmates.
