Tanichthys albonubes
Also known as: Albino White Cloud, Albino White Cloud Mountain Minnow
Origin: Captive-bred
The Albino White Cloud is a true albino strain of Tanichthys albonubes, lacking melanin pigmentation to produce a pale cream-to-white body with pink undertones and vivid red eyes. The red fin accents are still visible, softened to a coral hue.
Care is identical to the wild type. The absence of dark pigmentation makes albinos slightly more sensitive to very bright direct light, so providing shaded areas with floating plants or overhanging décor is appreciated.
Albino White Clouds breed freely in a planted setup and produce a mix of albino and normally pigmented offspring when crossed with standard forms.
Water: 14–22°C, pH 6.0–8.0, GH 2–15; no heater needed, tolerates a wide parameter range. Tank: minimum 40 L with some shaded areas using floating plants to reduce harsh direct light. Feeding: omnivore — flake, micro-pellets, frozen daphnia, cyclops, and baby brine shrimp. Breeding: egg-scatterer; albino trait is recessive; spawns freely among fine-leaved plants. Compatibility: peaceful community fish; ideal with other temperate nano species and snails.
