Amphiprion allardi
Origin: East Africa, Kenya to South Africa
Amphiprion allardi is a large and visually striking East African clownfish found from Kenya to South Africa, featuring a near-black body with two white bars and vivid contrasting yellow fins and facial coloration. Its bold bicolour pattern sets it apart from most other clownfish species and makes it a popular and distinctive choice for hobbyists maintaining geographically accurate East African reef biotope aquariums. Pairs well with large host anemones including Entacmaea quadricolor.
House in a reef or large FOWLR aquarium (minimum 100 L) with stable marine parameters (pH 8.1–8.4, SG 1.020–1.025, temperature 24–28°C). Provide a suitable host anemone. Feed varied omnivore diet: quality marine flake, frozen Mysis, and frozen Artemia. A mated pair forms a stable social unit; juveniles can be kept in larger groups that naturally develop hierarchy. The larger size requires more space than smaller clownfish species.
