About
Altolamprologus calvus 'Black' is a highly laterally compressed cichlid with an angular head designed to extract cichlid fry from rock crevices and shell beds. The black morph has jet-black scales with white spotting on the fins. Its unique body plan and deliberate, majestic movement make it a fascinating display species. It is predatory toward small fish but slow and deliberate. Best in Tanganyika species tanks with rocky substrate.
