Amano Shrimp Variant (Caridina multidentata)

This select-strain Amano Shrimp (Caridina multidentata) offers larger, more robust individuals than standard imports, providing the most effective biological algae control available for freshwater planted aquariums. Originally popularised by aquascaping legend Takashi Amano, these shrimp consume hair algae, thread algae, and biofilm at an impressive rate. The select strain offers improved size and hardiness compared to standard offerings, making each shrimp an even more effective addition to planted tank maintenance crews.

House in a well-cycled planted aquarium (minimum 20 L). Maintain clean water (pH 6.5–7.5, GH 6–15, temperature 18–28°C). Never use copper-based treatments. Most effective in groups of 5 or more. Supplement with algae wafers and blanched vegetables. Safe with all peaceful community fish, other shrimp, and planted tank inhabitants. Avoid aggressive fish that may predate upon shrimp.
