Corydoras amapaensis
Also known as: Amapa Cory, Amapaensis Cory
Origin: South America (Brazil — Amapá coastal rivers)
Corydoras amapaensis is restricted to a small number of coastal river systems in Amapá, Brazil, placing it firmly in the category of localised endemics rarely encountered in the trade. It shares the typical peaceful corydoras temperament and does best in soft, slightly acidic water that replicates its lowland coastal habitat. A rewarding find for corydoras specialists.
Water: 22–26°C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard (GH 2–12). Tank: 60 L minimum; fine sand; some cover provided by driftwood or broad-leaved plants. Feeding: Sinking pellets, frozen bloodworm, daphnia, and brine shrimp nauplii. Behaviour: Peaceful schooler; group of 6+ recommended for natural behaviour. Compatibility: Ideal with small peaceful tetras and other non-aggressive community species.
