Fundulopanchax amieti
Also known as: Amiet's Killifish
Origin: Cameroon
Fundulopanchax amieti is a non-annual killifish from forested streams in Cameroon, males adorned with bold red and yellow banding that makes them unmistakable. Slightly larger and more assertive than many Aphyosemion, it is best housed in a species tank where its territorial behaviour toward rival males can be managed. It accepts a range of live and frozen foods and can be induced to spawn in mops or leaf litter.
Water: 22–26 °C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard water. Tank: 40 L species tank; spawning mops or Java moss; secure lid essential. Feeding: Live and frozen invertebrates; quality micro-pellets and flake accepted. Behaviour: Males territorial; keep one male with two to three females. Compatibility: Species tank; avoid mixing with fin-nipping or much larger fish.
