Systomus anchisporus
Also known as: Anchisporis Barb, Anchisporus Barb
Origin: Southeast Asia
Systomus anchisporus is an infrequently seen member of the Systomus group, a genus of larger, deep-bodied barbs distributed across Southeast Asia. Its silver-gold scales catch the light attractively, and in a well-maintained tank it develops a robust, impressive physique. Though peaceful, its size means it should not be kept with small nano species; it does best in a roomy community with comparably sized, robust companions.
Water: 22–28 °C, pH 6.0–7.5, soft to moderately hard (GH 4–15). Tank: 150 L minimum; spacious open water with planted margins. Feeding: Omnivore — sinking pellets, flakes, frozen bloodworm, vegetable matter. Behaviour: Peaceful schooler; keep 6+ for best behaviour. Compatibility: Good with medium to large peaceful community fish; avoid very small tankmates.
