Hara jerdoni
Also known as: Anchor Catfish, Stone Catfish, Moth Catfish Dwarf
Origin: India, Bangladesh
Hara jerdoni, known as the Stone or Anchor Catfish, is one of the smallest catfish in the hobby and possesses an extraordinary ability to remain completely motionless on gravel substrate, mimicking debris or leaf litter. Its flattened, spiny body and anchor-like outline make it virtually invisible in a natural-decor aquarium. Despite its tiny size it is surprisingly hardy and adaptable to a range of water conditions.
Water: 20-26°C, pH 6.5-7.5, soft to moderately hard, gentle to moderate flow. Tank: Minimum 30 L, fine gravel, leaf litter, hiding crevices. Feeding: Frozen micro-worms, daphnia, tiny bloodworm pieces; eats rarely but needs quality food. Behaviour: Motionless for hours; cryptic and sedentary; becomes more active at night. Compatibility: Peaceful; avoid housing with large or aggressive fish.
